Giving

At Queensberry Baptist Church we believe that being generous is an important way we can reflect God’s generous heart towards us.

As we recognise that everything we have comes from God, we want to be open handed with what we have, sharing with others and giving towards the work of the church.

We want to be clear that there is no obligation to give to the church financially. It is free to come to church and everyone is welcome.

But obviously, there are costs involved with running a church, and all of our finances and resources come from the generosity of those in our church community who chose to give financially.

As we receive, we also give away. As a church we are committed to giving away 15% of the money we receive through gifts, offerings and tithes to other charities.

The charities we support are:
Baptist Together Home Mission Fund

BMS World Mission

Tek Ura (Albania)

Jericho Raod Project

Friends International

If you have any questions about our finances you can speak to our treasurer Jon Kearny or email finance@qbc.org.uk

How to Give to the work of QBC

Give Online/Give Monthly by Standing Order
For many people, the most convenient way to give is online. If you plan to give regularly you may want to consider setting up a standing order. Please email our Treasurer Jon Kearney at finance@qbc.org.uk for further details of how to do this.

If you are a UK tax payer, please also consider filling in a Gift Aid form for us. This allows us to claim back 25p on every £1 you give, from HM Revenue & Customs.

One Off Giving
You can do this by making a transfer via our Stewardship account - click here.

Please note that Stewardship retain a small percentage of any gift aid claimed on donations made through their website as a fee for their services. If you plan to give regularly to the work of the church, it would therefore be better to give directly via your bank.

Offering on Sunday Morning
We take an offering during our Sunday morning service. Baskets are passed around the hall and any donations can be places in these baskets, or the donation boxes found near each entrance.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When
We meet at the church building on Queensberry Street (details here) for our Sunday Service. Our car park can be accessed via Blankney Street. The service starts at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access via our car park entrance on Blankney street, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets just inside the entrance.

Our Service
The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from our service leader, and will finish sometime between 11.45-12noon.

You can expect the service to include times of sung worship, prayer, readings from the Bible, a talk and time to reflect on how we apply what we're learning to our every day lives. We will also share updates, news and notices to help everyone keep up to date with what is happening in church life.

Our sung worship will be lead by a group of musicians and will include a mix of hymns and more contemporary worship songs.  Sometimes a person might pray out loud, read a passage from the Bible, or share something they believe God is saying to the whole church community. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God.

We believe the Bible plays an important role in learning more about who God is and what it means to follow him. So each week we take time to explore a passage of the Bible together, usually by listening to a talk from one of our church team. We want what we're learning to impact our everyday lives so we'll spend some time thinking about how we can put what we've heard into practice.

We will spend time praying together, for our own needs, as well as local, national and international events. There is also an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

We share communion together once a month, usually on the second Sunday of the month.

We want people of all ages to feel welcomed and included in church life. Find out more about activities for children and young people here

Getting Connected

Home Groups
While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our home groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. If you are interest in joining a group, we can put you in touch with a home group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering
If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
